Communities up and down the eastern seaboard are preparing for more rain to be added to saturated ground and swollen streams and rivers. Some areas could see upwards of 5 inches of rainfall over the next 48 hours. This satellite image from GOES East taken in the afternoon of March 9, 2011 shows the huge size of the low pressure system, although the rains will be concentrated east of the Appalachian Range. The accompanying image shows expected rain accumulation over the period March 9 through March 12.
