Heavy Rains Cause Devastating Flood in Krymsk, Russia

This image from July 6, 2012 shows the low pressure system that had moved westward over the preceding days gathering strength from the warm Black Sea. In the early hours of Saturday July 7 the city of Krymsk, Russia, endured frightening flash flooding as the storm dumped 11 inches of water in a few short hours. This image is from the Suomi-NPP satellite's moderate resolution true color channels from 1000Z to 1010Z on July 6, 2012.
