Strong Winter Storm in the Middle East

This image from the Suomi NPP satellite's VIIRS instrument taken around 1025Z on December 15, 2013 shows areas of snow in Syria, Jordan, Israel and the Palestinian Territory. Characterized as the strongest storm in recent decades, this event has added to humanitarian challenges in the region, including injuries, evacuations from flooding and impacts to farmers and their livestock.
