Typhoon Rammasun At Landfall on Hainan Island, China

This image taken by the JMA MTSAT-2R satellite at 0730Z on July 18, 2014, shows the eye of Typhoon Rammasun over the northeastern end of Hainan Island approximately 250 miles southwest of Hong Kong. The typhoon is forecast to continue northwestward into southern China through the Gulf of Tonkin where the upper level environment and sea surface temperatures remain favorable for maintaining strength.
